Importing North American Cities and States

In this section you learn how to import North American cities, States (Provinces) and all the countries of the world.  
Before attempting to do this step, you should have installed CX_SupportFiles in the 4D Folder as explained in previous lesson (Installing CX_SupportFiles).
These steps must be performed on the server.  

Accessing the Cities

  • Click on 'Cities' from the pulldown menu at the bottom of the modules panel to access the 'Cities' module.
    *Note, you may similarly access and the 'States' and 'Countries' modules.

Adding, Modifying or Removing Cities

  • Once you have opened the 'Cities' module, you are able to add, modify or remove cities by selecting the city you wish to change then clicking on 'Add', 'Edit', or 'Delete' respectively.
    *Note, you may similarly add, edit or delete 'States' and 'Countries' from their corresponding modules.

Import Cities

  • Click on the 'Support' tab within the application then select 'Import Cities' from the dropdown menu.

Locate the CX_SupportFiles

  • When the 'Import File' dialog box opens, select the CX_SupportFiles from C:\CurrencyXchanger\CX_SupportFiles.

Select Cities

  • Select and click on the 'Cities' file then click 'Open'.

  • When you see the below screen, click the 'Import' button to import all North America's Cities.

  • Wait for the import to complete.

Import States

  • Click on the 'Support' tab within the application then select 'Import States' from the dropdown menu.

  • Select and click on the 'States' file then click 'Open'.

  • When you see the below screen, click the 'Import' button to import all North America's States and Provinces.

Import Countries

  • Similarly, import all the 'Countries' into the database.
